Everyone needs a good holiday. It is not often that we could make a long trip due to the expenses and availability at the work place. This post will guide you to the 3 main factors that would tell you exactly what is the best time of year for you to visit Cambodia.
1. Weather
There are two things that people are trying to avoid when they come to Cambodia: Hot or Raining. We have two seasons: Dry season and raining Season. The raining season starts from May to October and dry season takes the rest of the year. April is the hottest month (sometimes, it can go up to 38-40 degrees Celsius). The rains start to fall often from July to September. Those are not heavy and could take normally a half day or night expect there is influence from typhoon or storm from other countries.
If you wish to come to Cambodia for its good weather, consider planning your trip from November to February. During this period, there’s no more rain and the temperature starts to cold down. This is the perfect time for those who hate the heat or rain.
2. Cost
To travel agents and hotels owners, there are two seasons as well: low and high. They call low season when there are not many tourists, and high when there’s no room.
The high season normally starts from November to April, depends on the vacation time for people from Europe or America. It will have crowed everywhere. The cost for everything will be expensive.
If you want to have a room and pay only a half of its usual price, plan your trip during the low season. Not only hotels but you will find more space to visit the temples and move around.
The air ticket is also less expensive in low season.
3. Green
If you like the green nature or taking the photo, June to December would be the best time to come and visit Cambodia. When the rain starts to fall, all the green grass starts to grow and provide good landscapes for photographers. And of course, you can benefit from the low price for food/accommodation/airfares.
Conclusion
After all, you can come and visit Cambodia anytime.
The raining season here is not like the raining season in France. If you sit on the bus or car arranged by your travel agent, I am sure you will enjoy the rain and beautiful landscapes around you.
If you are rich and hate the rain or heat and want to travel with crowds, take the high season: November-February.
If you look at the number of passengers arrived at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap International Airports, you will see some difference but not much.
I hope this post would give you an idea when it is the best time for you, according to your taste, to visit Cambodia.
