What Khmer love songs did you listen 10 years ago?
I believe you might find it hard to recall them as well as some people might forget them all.
So right now, I am here to compile a list of top 10 awesome Khmer love songs that we enjoyed the most at around 2000 to 2002 or so.
1/ “Chngol Der(AKA Paek Jenh Jean)” by Moun Mara
I love this song so much, I listen to it when I was in grade 4. Every time I hear this song, It make me miss one of my cousin so much because he used to teach me to sing this song in Thai version.
And you will see Ly Marina was so young when she casted in this MV, may be it was the first step for her career.
2/ “Kado Kmean Ney” by Moun Mara
Sure, I like Moun Mara and many other like too, I hope everyone not yet forget him. “Kado Kmean Ney” was another big hit in that time. I sang this song everyday like crazy.
3/ “Turasab Brab Pong” by San Panith
When talking about San Panith, everyone still remember the most famous sad love song called “Turasab Brab Pong” which in this song, he strongly ask his girlfriend to tell him something to him through the cell phone. At that time his hair was long unlike now which he don’t prefer hair on his head any more.
4/ “Pel Del Trov Bek” by MKS
MKS not exist anymore, but their song sill alive. I remember that this song was payed along with one Thai Drama on TV5. At that time, everyone seems to like it so much. It was the most successful time of MKS. But sadly, the MV is not good at all.
5/ “Mean Bot Chomreang Mouy Na Del Tvey Oy Oun Nirk Dol Bong” by Preap Sovath
I didn’t find Preap Sovath was famous with Love song in that time, generally this guys sang all kind of song in many genre. And this is a long song he sing which make him was so famous that time.
6/ “Nea Li Ka” by Khum Bunnadeth
Remember Khum Bunnadeth? Remember EV band? Sure, at the time EV bank was famous after their pop song called “We are youth”, they start to release individual songs which Khum Bunnadeth took a lot of attention from the listener with this song. But again, this MV look too poor.
7/ “Linda” by Nob Bayarith
How is Nob Bayarith ? “Linda” is a very cool long song I used to listen which the very soft voice of Nob Bayarith, this song really stand out. Anyways the meaning is also wonderful for this song.
8/ “Min Srolanh Oun Min Ban” by Chan Samai
Remember F4?? Remember the drama “ Meteor Garden”? If yes, then you should remember this song. Singed by Chan Samai, this song was a big hit since there are a lot of people love this Drama and also this song which played along with this drama on TV5.
9/ “Nirk” by Meng Keopichchenda
Even if I am not her fans, but I must be crazy if don’t listed it here. It was a very famous Khmer love song which people at all age love this song so much, not only youth.
10/ “Besdong Ktech Ktam” by Youk Thetratha
Sure, Even if now Youk Thetrath is not very popular but she used to be so popular in the past. Why not found one of her long songs to include in this list? Sure, This is the coolest and most famous love song from her which many Cambodian girls at that time love it so much.
