Why love is so important?
The Sorcerer and the White Snake, a new film from Hong Kong, will not give you any good answer but it will bring you to a fantasy world with a sad and beautiful love story between a snake demon (half woman half snake) and a poor herbalist.
The director Ching Siu-tung created the story based on an old Chinese legend. The film didn’t develop much details on how a demon could fall in love with a human but the crew really focus on special effect and action scenes. There’s no surprise to me because the direction is well-known as action choreographer.
He was behind great actions scenes such as in the film which I could not forget “House of Flying Daggers” and others good Hong Kong films.
In his own direction, the Sorcerer and the White Snake, you will enjoy to see two snakes (white and green) flying around with their long tails and many good actions scenes with special effect CGI (Computer-generated imagery) since the beginning till end.
Jet Li plays as the sorcerer who will spend all his time and energy to clean up the demons from earth and there’s no reason he could allow the relation between demon and human.
There is a very good scene where Jet Li faces up to 8 beautiful girls transformed from demons. It is funny. Only Jet Li can resist! LOL
If you like fantasy film, I don’t know if you already watched good Chinese Ghost Story or any other Chinese fantasy film. If you do, this film is for you.
There is one quote I like from the film:
Someone once told me if i want to see someone, I should keep her in my heart, then I will really see her again.
The demon and human can’t stay together but they surely can keep each other in their heart. It’s a fact to all the true love.
