Top 10: best Hotels in Phnom Penh

I know how painful it is to select the best hotel in a city that you plan to visit for the first time. You don’t know the place. The reviews are everywhere. You don’t know which one to trust.

I write this post to help you select one of the best hotels in Phnom Penh.

Let me explain how I come up with this list.

I first select the hotels in the best location near the center of Phnom Penh. When you visit a country, you don’t bring your car with you. The location is very important to move around the city. I don’t recommend hotels outside of the city center.

If you choose one of the hotels I recommend, you can walk by yourself to explore the city. You can go shopping, drinking, dining and see people at the river bank.

The Mekong river here is a popular place for people in the city to hang out.

Then I select hotels that have the unique style of architecture. And the swimming pool is a must. We are in a tropical country, it’s nice to be in the pool with a glass of wine or beer.

Then I combined all the rating from TripAdvisor.com, Booking.com, Agoda.com and HotelCombined.com.

1. The Pavilion

Address: St 19, No. 227, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The Pavilion is located in the center of Phnom Penh. The hotel itself was renovated from a French colonial house built in 1920.

The hotel is made for couples without children. Only adult older than 16 is allowed. They provide facilities typically for honeymoon couples.

For this reason, in 2017, they received the award “Top best hotels and Top best romantic destinations in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.”

2. White Mansion Hotel

Address: No. 26 Street 240, Daun Penh, 12200 Phnom Penh, Cambodia

White Mansion Hotel was renovated from old US Embassy, located in the center of the city. It’s a hotel that is filled with art and friendly services.

The hotel is very closed to the Independent Monument and others nice shopping stores and restaurants. You can take 5 mins of walk to reach the popular tourists’ area of the Wat Lanka and BKK.

Base on the reviews, a lot of people said they will come back and stay at the hotel again. What makes it so special?

3. The Villa Paradiso

Address: 25-27, Street 222, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Villa Paradiso is dedicated to Honeymoon couple as well. They allow only children more than 10. The hotel was renovated from the old colonial house by two independent travelers.

You will receive special welcome and retreat once you arrived at the hotel. The hotel is located in the center of the city. It’s a perfect place to retreat for a few days.

4. The Kabiki

Address: # 22, Street 264, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The Kabiki is a family friendly hotel located very close to the Monument Independent. Don’t worry about the security guards. They are there because the hotel is in the compound of the high officer’s houses.

The environment there is decorated with trees and natures. They have two swimming pools, one is reserved for the kids.

They have designed a few rooms for the whole family where you can stay with your kids in the same room. It’s very conveniences for people who travel with family.

5. Raffles Hotel Le Royal

Address: 92 Rukha Vithei Daun Penh, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Raffles Hotel Le Rpyal opened its first service in 1929. This is the only one historical hotel in Cambodia. It used to be the place where all the foreign journalist stayed to cover the news during the war.

It’s the most high-class hotel in town. If you want to stay in the first Cambodian hotel in the history, this is the one. But you also need to pay high for the room.

6. Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra

Address: 26 Old August Site, Sothearos Boulevard, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra is French chain hotel that located in a very convenient location. It’s close to the Mekong river and Aeon mall, a Japanese superstore chain.

It’s a 5 stars hotel. You know what to expect. There’s no exception. You will be treated in a very friendly way. The hotel is, of course, a family friendly place to stay. They have a very big area. You can play sport and have choices to go to one of the best restaurants inside the hotel.

7. The Plantation Urban Resort and Spa

Address: # 28 Street 184, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The Plantation is a charming hotel in the heart of the city. It’s located just behind the Royal Palace. You can walk around and explore the city without worrying about the transportation.

The place itself has a very nice decoration and architecture. They offer a very nice friendly service.

8. Blue Lime Phnom Penh

Address: Street 19z, Behind National Museum, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Blue Lime is a garden hotel hidden behind the national museum. It might be a bit hard to find because it is surrendered by the complex building outside.

But when you get inside, you will find yourself comfortable and receive the warm welcome from the staff.

The kid younger than 16 is not allowed. They have a big swimming pool and some of the rooms have private (small) swimming pool.

It’s a good place to stay, cheap and convenient because of its location.

9. Patio Hotel & Urban Resort

Patio Hotel is totally new built in the center of the city. It’s very close to the Monument Independent and located in the BKK area where you can find a lot of good coffee shops and restaurants.
