I’ve skipped a few publishing schedules for various personal reasons. It is a bit annoying. I need to wear glasses now when I want to read or write. I was not getting used to it. It is quite a difficult adaptation. I didn’t want to wear glasses.
But in the end, I need to accept the fact that I am getting old and it is unavoidable. It is getting better now at the time I am writing this.
Then, there were also New Year celebrations. It’s a bit late to say it but I wish you all a great year 2022.
As the new year is coming, we should have a theme for the year and it is one of the subjects I like to share here. Being fearless. Not only for 2022 but for years to come, we should learn to become fearless.
When we want to talk about fear, there is one person who can show us a real example of how he can overcome his fears. It’s Jackie Chan, my all time favorite Chinese actor. I watched his movies during my childhood. Even these days, I collected all his movies and I watched them sometimes.
Check out his interview on one his most scary scenes in the Police Story.
When Jackie can overcome his fears, he can do so many great things. We should learn to apply the same concept so that each one of us can accomplish something.
It’s good to have fear. It is not a bad thing. We all have fears, more or less. We fear failure. We fear losing people we love. We fear for many other things we shouldn’t fear for.
The fear creates frustration inside ourselves. It stops us from having a clear mind to do things we want to do. It occupies all of our thinking. We end up doing nothing because of the fear.
There is also a type of fear that is related to the uncertainty. We call it anxiety. Anxiety is a type of fear that makes us worry about a threat that might happen in the future. Most of the time anxiety is just a thought that purely exists in our thinking. Those bad things never happen. Nothing is as bad as we think. Nothing is getting worse than the fear itself.
We should teach ourselves to be fearless. No matter what happens, we are ready. We are ready to accept it. We are ready to deal with it. We are ready to move forward.
However, it is not easy to overcome our fear. It is impossible to eliminate it completely. But we can turn fear into actions and take good benefit of it.
If this is something that you’re interested in, let’s find out what we can do better with our fear.
Just take note, I am not a specialist in Psychology. It is just a topic I am interested in because if we manage our fear well, we can live a happy life.
Accept its presence
We always have fear. It’s normal behavior. Don’t try to deny its presence. Once we accept it, it doesn’t border us much. We can live with it and we can overcome it. Consider the fear as a reminder or a friend of ours. It’s our feeling and it is trying to tell us something. We can agree and we also can disagree with it.
Once you don’t consider fear as an enemy it will become your friend. You will feel more comfortable to listen or not to listen to it. Keep the good things and let the bad things fade right away.
Being prepared
When you fear something, no matter what it is, be prepared. If it happens, you are ready. If it doesn’t happen, it is much better. We fear because we have doubts about our capacity. We fear because we think we cannot handle it. This is a good time to improve our capacity. We should be happy to learn something new. Experience it. These days, we can learn about anything. It is just a matter of giving yourself the time and willingness.
Having confidence
Once we are prepared, we need to have confidence in ourselves. No matter what happens, take a deep breath and react to the situation calmly and confidently. The fear will disappear when we have confidence and the capacity to handle what may come.
You will enjoy the moment you accomplish something new in your life. This is thanks to your fear, your capacity and your confidence.
It’s important to trust yourself.
It’s Ok to be stupid (sometimes)
You might not be as good as you expected to be but it is OK to be who you are and what you are capable of. You are not a superman. You are just a human being. It’s Ok to be stupid sometimes. Do not feel ashamed or hate yourself.
If we don’t do a good job it is because we are well prepared. Something might be missing in the preparation phase. You need to go back, try to understand what went wrong. Spend more time on the preparation. Try it again and the next time you will do it much better.
Letting go
We wish for the best but we should be prepared for the worst. This is life. We try to do our best but we might not get the best results all the time. We need to learn to let go of bad experiences and think positively. There is always another way to look at things. There is always another way to do things better.
It is up to you to get rid of negative emotion and move on. It’s up to you to lead your life for another exciting moment.
Once you can manage the fear through these 5 steps, you will feel free and ready to enjoy life. It might be easy for me to say so but it is not as difficult as it seems. You need to give yourself opportunities to face your fear. Do something new and discover yourself.
It is never too late to be fearless.

I like being ‘fearless’. I think with covid and everything we’ve had to review our world and the way we are in this to do that. Great theme ‘fearless’.
Thank you Paddy for your comment. Wish you a very good year 2022.
you should look at the quote from Frank Herbert’s book Dune in his litany of fear: “I will not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
I will face my fear.
I will let it pass through me.
When the fear has gone,
there shall be nothing.
Only I will remain.”
I watched the first movie production in 1984 and I loved it. But now there is a new movie on Dune out. It’s a must-watch. I think it will be done in 3 parts. The first is out already.
