At the age of 40s, my wisdom teeth no. 17, the one at the far lower left, just pushes itself out of nowhere. It is a bit weird, isn’t it? Why did it wait until I reached my 40s?
Moreover it happened on Pchum Ben day. Most of the dental clinics are closed. It was a one week of uncomfortable experiences: pain, headache, fever and I got no taste to all kinds of food. You can imagine the rest …
I didn’t feel well. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. From that moment, I started to realize I didn’t appreciate what I have until I lost it.
I didn’t appreciate how lucky I am to be healthy, to get hungry and to be able to find something to eat. I didn’t appreciate my everyday life as in fact it is very precious to have a life on this earth.
I didn’t appreciate things around me, for example, the food I eat everyday, the people I have around me, including the sound of the birds which would wake me up every morning without an alarm clock.
I took and looked at everything as nothing special.
During the time I spent recovering from the wisdom teeth, I put myself in a chair and allowed the wind to blow through my face. I calm myself down by taking long deep breaths, quietly, gently and purposely. I gave myself the time to think.
I found out I should pay more attention to myself and have a clear purpose for what I am doing. I should be grateful for what I am having right now.
I should appreciate my life more. I should see things differently. As I wrote in my previous article last week. I should start to live a happy life.
I like to thank the wisdom teeth who taught me on how to appreciate life and being grateful to people and things around me.
I shared this post from the bottom of my heart. As a takeaway, I like you to realize how lucky you are to have a life on this earth. We might have different goals, purposes and preferences but I believe we all share the same appreciation and gratitude toward our lives.
I am not stopping you from chasing your dream and pursuing your ambition but appreciate what you have right now, at this moment.
Do not make your day pass without enjoying it. We are all busy but make the time. Make the time for yourself to find a purpose in life.
Once you start to acknowledge how precious your life is, you will start to appreciate it and you will get more tasty from the food, make better sleep and gain more energy for yourself.
One last word. It is important to keep yourself healthy. Do exercise, eat good food. Do not forget to appreciate what you have and keep improving yourself to be a better person.
