The latest day of Pchum Ben this year has began with the sad news when we learned the death of the King Father Norodom Sihanouk.
To me, I had many visions of my own to the King Father. Those visions have been changed from one to another. I had a mixed feelings about him.
It was hard to figure out which vision is the correct one.
But there is one thing I have been trying to do. If I want to understand a person, I need to put myself in his shoe. I need to think how would I react if I was in his place.
I heard many people complain things about Cambodian society. But I know only few people who are trying to understand the cause.
It was hard to understand Cambodian politic because no one accept his mistakes. And there’s nothing we could learn much about it because everything is hidden.
The King Father once said (Source):
I want my country to be independent, always independent. I have done my best, but as a human being I cannot be perfect, nobody is perfect.
I hope all Cambodian politician would follow this statement. The King Father accepted that he is not perfect but he has a clear vision to put his country independent.
He built a very beautiful country and made Cambodia once as the most beautiful country in Asia. There’s one thing we know it is true is that he loves his country and he wants to bring happiness to his people.
His big success is to claim independent from French in 1953 and to took back Preah Vihear temple from Thailand in 1962.
His politics have been changed many times but I believe the reason behind is to find peace for his country and people.
He played a big role as the negotiator which leaded to the Paris peace agreements in 1991. It’s from there that Cambodia started to see peace.
Whatever mistakes the King Father might make, his intention is to bring good things to his country and people. There’s a fact that we all agree is that he loves his country.
May the King Father rest in peace. We all will remember what you have done for us and your name will be remembered forever.
I collected some old photos of the King Father and hope we will remember him in a very good way.
