The Grand Bayon Siem Reap Hotel is a 4-star hotel located near the popular Sok San Road area in Siem Reap town. It’s a new hotel which has been opened for less than two years and it’s easy to see why it has so many good reviews in the last couple of years.
The hotel is clean and located in a good area which is good if you want to walk to the main areas of Siem Reap, like the famous Pub Street or Night Market areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are comfortable and quiet. All in all, the hotel offers great value for money.
Sok San Road is slowly becoming one of the more popular areas in Siem Reap town. There are many bars, restaurants, supermarkets and other places along the road. The Grand Bayon is located just a couple of minutes from Sok San Road.
There is also a road next to the hotel which takes you directly to the Angkor Night Market. From here, you are only a couple of minutes from Pub Street. You are far enough away from the noise of Pub Street to enjoy some peace and quiet, but close enough for a short walk to get there.
The Grand Bayon is a 4-star hotel in Siem Reap. It’s important to note that “4-star” has a different meaning in Cambodia than what you might expect in Europe, but nevertheless, they do offer a great place to stay.
The front desk team was very friendly when we arrived, they spoke excellent English and the General Manager was also on hand to welcome us into the hotel. The restaurant team also spoke English and dealt with our orders well.
It was a good experience and the hotel offered everything we needed. The service provided by the front desk and restaurant was great.
The hotel has a choice of double, twins, triples, family suites and junior suites available. All rooms are clean and comfortable. They come with the standard features – A/C, TV, Cable, Wi-Fi, phone, etc. There is then a choice of either pool view or city view. The pool view rooms have larger balconies, but the city view rooms, arguably, have a better view.
Some of the rooms also come with bathtubs. If you’re looking for a bathtub, make sure you request a room with one at the time of booking.
There are 45 rooms in total, so it’s not a huge hotel, but not too small either. When we stayed there (in the low season) there were few other guests around. The hotel was quiet.
Even in the high season, it won’t be over crowded. Most people visit Siem Reap to go to the temples, so you’ll probably find that there are too many other guests lounging around by the pool.
The Grand Bayon offers all the services you’d expect from a hotel in the temple town. You can book a tour of the temples. They have plenty of options from sunrise tours of Angkor Wat to visiting some of the temples a little further out of town such as Banteay Srei or Beng Mealea.
It’s also possible to arrange transportation around Siem Reap and to your next destination with the reception.
They also offer the normal services you would expect like laundry, they can book restaurants, give advice about the local area, and that sort of thing.
Like you would expect, prices vary depending on the time of year. It’s always best to book directly on their website because they offer the best value for money. They have packages which can only be booked on their website.
Prices start from around $30 per night.
