Tonle Sap

Tonle Sap Skyview by peaceofangkorweb.com

i’m waiting for the next video from my new twitter friend @fatblueman,

he did a good video and shared with us what he has learned about Cambodia, especially the traffic along the national road ;-) if you not yet watch his video, you should take a look at his video Phnom Penh to Pursat, it’s a nice video he has made.

i have also learned that there is a plan to build the railway to connect Cambodia to Vietnam, then All Asian countries will be connected by railway.

it’s something very good for the future, in term of transport cost reduction, and would be the new experience to Cambodian and Asian people with the long journey on the train,

i don’t know if you watch the TV about Reunification Express, a part of the program Trails From The East from Australia Network channel.

taking the train, to me, it give an unique feeling that i can’t express, maybe i watch too much films, seen too much scenes on the train but i still want to take the train when the Cambodian new railway open again.

i heard in the project, they plan to build two bridges, one bridge got a thousand meter over the Mekong River and another one of 1,500 meter bridge over the Tonle Sap Lak.

how to build such a long bridge? it’s the first time for Cambodia and it would be a challenge for the Civil engineers, i wish good work to them. i hope there will be also Cambodia engineers participate in this project.

you can find more details about this project by the reporting on VOA News: Mekong River Raises Cost of Trans-Asia Railway

Thanks for the mention! I will be back in Cambodia again with my NGO, and when I am, I’ll look you up! The highway was a great adventure, but honestly, the rural areas around Pursat were not that terribly different from where I grew up in Canada (though I suppose in Pursat it never hits -40 degrees… :-)
