follow the quick advice from TV5.org few week ago, everybody agree that for an expat, it should need about 1500-2000 USD per month for good living in Cambodia.

for local people i think they don’t need that much. they don’t pay for house, they got their own transport, they know good places: cheap and good restaurant for example, they might need less than 2000 USD.

according to the study of Xpatulator.com, which is the most comprehensive source of international cost of living index information.

Their international cost of living calculator and cost of living allowance calculator are used for international cost of living comparison and calculation of cost of living allowance.

Cambodia is a good place to live and word, a lot of coming investments and developments are on their way to find its existence and a lot of people want to do business in Cambodia.

in general living in Cambodia is relative cheap compared to others cities. it classed in the rang of 273 amount 276 international location. it’s good to get in number so that you can have an idea of how much you will spend in Cambodia.

Japan is the most expensive city in the world, you might know about it. if you want to have an idea if Cambodia is cheaper place to your current city, wherever you city, go to Xpatulator.com, locate your city and check the rang cost of living for your current city, compare it with the rang of Cambodia, this would definitely assure you on how much it would cost you.

as you can see in the rang, Cambodia classified in 273/276, so it’s the cheapest place to live and work. Aswin Fahrizal, a travelographer from Indonesia has generally spent $30 (more less) for 1 day living in Cambodia: Meal 2x @$5, Transport $5-7, Hotel $15.

i told him, if you know well the place you can find a good restaurant with the good price that cost you only 1 or 2 dollars per meal. i would come up with another post to collect all the good places as request by Aswin Fahrizal.

TOO expensive!! Here in the USA $2000 per month you can pay your mortage, 2 cars bill, 1 child tuition to college, utilities bills, and eat comfortably. Try Buenos Aires in Argentina, much cheaper.

the cost of 2000 USD is estimated for expats only, not applicable to local Cambodia people. you can imagine how an government employee survive with the salary of 20 USD? i would say 1000 USD would be enough for a medium life in Cambodia

in cambodia. if im not staying with family. i mean like if i dont eat dinenr at familys house like everyday and if i dont sleep at there house……..

i just spend $300 or less per month fpr spending money for food, transportation etc. and also can get a pretty good row house with a rent of $200-$400 per month.

so $1000 per month is already enough to live in cambodia. $200 will be plenty of money.

$1,500 – $2,000 sounds like a lot of money in Cambodia. I think $100-$250 could get you a pretty decent one bed apartment in Cambodia. Food is relatively cheaper and if you cook or eat at the more cheaper eatery, you could possibly look at spending just $400 a month? Giving $100 a week for food. I think $1,500 – $2,000 enables them to live a more luxirious lifestyle than the average Cambodian, i.e. employing a maid to clean etc

When I was single I though 1500-2000$ a month is enought and living in a luxery world but when you get family mean you start having a wife without kid is still enought but when your family become bigger and bigger means you produce more kids we start thinking 1500-2000$ a month is not enought for your family but it is enought for you mean your wife have a very big ambition. Then she always complaint you that amount is not enought for family.

good comment KK, thank to have you here.
well i start to think on how to increase the revenue since i wanted to start a family.
i got a full-time job, i got medium salary i would say and this is still not enough.
as you said 2000 $ is not enough if we have kids, need to pay for his school, milk, others stuffs.

but it’s life, we will try to do our best to stabilize our life.
good luck to you as i know you are more busy than in the past,
it’s a good move and all the best wish to you my friend.
