as any other Cambodia people, i rarely look at the map or you would say i don’t know how to read the map.
if you give me the map, i probably turn it up side down many times to locate where my house is. you can laugh, i don’t mind.
the reason is here we don’t usually practice that kind of thing when we are in Cambodia. even when we go to province, we just ask the people for the road direction. sometime we get lost of course, but it’s some kind of fun.
when we ask for distance, no one really know how many kilometers, we can only refer and imagine how many kilometers would it take for “not far”, “continue for a while”, etc. sometime “not far” can take you up to half day.
in Phnom Penh, it’s better to tell us where you want to go, give us a well known place in stead of street number or name. we always refer to the big place then drill down to the destination,
anyway i think you might need some Travel guide for Cambodia. i do some collection of the sources where i believed they would provide you more information than Cambodian people.
but if you want to have fun and make it as a bit of adventure and surprise, don’t go for those travel guides, buy the tickets and fly to Cambodia. you would have fun.
