Many people asked when my first short story Katuoch came out. They wonder where did i learn how to write? How came i get time to write story? What inspired me to write? His short stories received from time to time the Nou Hach Journal annual awards: KATUOCH (2005) and THE MAN ON THE ROOF (2007). He has expressed the need for Cambodian fiction to move beyond the Pol Pot era, recognized by Geoff Ryman, the author of THE KING’S LAST SONG. Khmerbird says of his fictions: "It's like an update. I want to put next to the books about the genocide, real-time stories from my country. That is my first mission in writing stories."
