it might easy to find a hosting server and choose a domain, everybody knows how to do it. i am talking here the initially steps, the things that you might do it first before you jump into the technical parts. i got few friends that suffer in blogging, they like blogging but their blog doesn’t grow, they got no visitors, they earn very little from google adsense,

as i mentioned earlier, i will share here what i have learned from blogging,

this post is reserved only for those who want to have a blog and plan to get some money from the blog, if you just blogging for blogging i don’t think you want to read it more.

ok let’s go to the point,

Ask yourself What you can write about

in your life you will discover something you like the most, some of my friends they like football, some of them they like drinking … some of them they like beautiful girls .. . but whatever ask yourself what topic you want to write about.

for example i am passionate in film especially Asian cinema. i know a lot of good films that i want to share, so i started first writing about films.

you can write about sport, food or news … it depends on your passion. think about it and write it down somewhere.

Details a bit about what you plan to write

i started khmerbird.com without proper preparation, that’s why i changed sometime, but if you do a proper preparation you don’t have to change it unless you want to adjust or add more topics to your blog.

for example the description of my blog right now is something like this: a regularly updating blog mainly give you the last update from Cambodia, the country of smile. the blog also focus on latest news of Asian films, literature and web development.

you can describe more to let people know what your blog is about, it should not more than 160 words, this is the practice and rule. write it in a simple way but keep it mind that it will appear on the search engine where people is going to decide weather they click on your blog or not, so please spend sometime to write it.

Choose Keyword for your blog

keyword is important, keyword will bring traffic to your blog, a proper setting of keywords will also bring high pay adsense.

i started to arrange the position of google adsense and optimize the keyword for each post, i can see now as the report below i can earn in average USD 2.47 per day, it’s not bad at all for a small blog like mine.

i plan to write a details information later about keyword, but if you can think about it now, write it down somewhere you might need them when you setup a blog or find a domain name.

there are a lot of free keyword tools, you can google it. but i would recommend you to start to use Keywork tools of Google Adwords.

to get an account you need to sing up and provide some information to google, once you got an account, type the topic that you want to write about and click on “get keyword ideas”, you can follow as screen shot below

this tools is free and will help you a lot to know what kind of keyword that people looking for concern your topic. it tell you the monthly report of how many time people research per keyword. from there you might get an idea what kind of keyword you want to put on your blog.

for setting those keywords into your blog, you won’t need it more than 10. 10 is the maximum number of keyword for a blog or a page. so you can start to select 10 keywords.

i will write another post that you will need 500 keywords, where you can get using the same tools to find a right domain for your topic.
