for local people i think they don’t need that much. they don’t pay for house, they got their own transport, they know good places: cheap and good restaurant for example, they might need less than 2000 USD.

TOO expensive!! Here in the USA $2000 per month you can pay your mortage, 2 cars bill, 1 child tuition to college, utilities bills, and eat comfortably. Try Buenos Aires in Argentina, much cheaper.
the cost of 2000 USD is estimated for expats only, not applicable to local Cambodia people. you can imagine how an government employee survive with the salary of 20 USD? i would say 1000 USD would be enough for a medium life in Cambodia
i would say 2000 USD, would be the top life in Cambodia
I pay nothing for the family[not yet].. I spend all for self-entertaining..
in cambodia. if im not staying with family. i mean like if i dont eat dinenr at familys house like everyday and if i dont sleep at there house……..
i just spend $300 or less per month fpr spending money for food, transportation etc. and also can get a pretty good row house with a rent of $200-$400 per month.
so $1000 per month is already enough to live in cambodia. $200 will be plenty of money.
$1,500 – $2,000 sounds like a lot of money in Cambodia. I think $100-$250 could get you a pretty decent one bed apartment in Cambodia. Food is relatively cheaper and if you cook or eat at the more cheaper eatery, you could possibly look at spending just $400 a month? Giving $100 a week for food. I think $1,500 – $2,000 enables them to live a more luxirious lifestyle than the average Cambodian, i.e. employing a maid to clean etc
When I was single I though 1500-2000$ a month is enought and living in a luxery world but when you get family mean you start having a wife without kid is still enought but when your family become bigger and bigger means you produce more kids we start thinking 1500-2000$ a month is not enought for your family but it is enought for you mean your wife have a very big ambition. Then she always complaint you that amount is not enought for family.

well i start to think on how to increase the revenue since i wanted to start a family.
i got a full-time job, i got medium salary i would say and this is still not enough.
as you said 2000 $ is not enough if we have kids, need to pay for his school, milk, others stuffs.
but it’s life, we will try to do our best to stabilize our life.
