81.918 Cds and VCDs have been destroyed at Wat Phnom last Friday to show the action again the piracy in Cambodia.
it was reported by local newspaper Koh Santepheap that about 220 thousands disc have been removed and destroyed.
this would be a good sign for film industry and to the artists especially music production. i hope in the near future when the copyright law have been applicable into the market, real artists would find their way to get the financial support and rights to their creativity.
at the same i heard also hang meas got complains from Korean music production about their copy song from a Korean Original song. but no confirmation official found out on the net yet.
all the music and movie production should start to think and create their own music and movie. copy from others will not work anymore soon.
how do you feel about anti-piracy in Cambodia? is it necessary to take place now? be informed that very soon you will not find any more new film with the price less than 2 USD
personally i think it’s time to start now since i realize Cambodian cinema have been down since few years, music industry still do the copy from others countries.
anti-piracy would be a solution to push out the creativity from the real artists and talent Khmer writers.

not only the law should apply to those poors who sell CD but to the Media Company who steal other people song too…
yes definitively, the law must apply to everybody, not just the small little shop at Russian Market or Center market ..
And then what?
I don’t see it’s going away.
it might some time and we need to know when to get it start,
some people might get also the bad effect from this, especially the sellers,
we need to think how to help them to find another way to survive too.
Microsoft Office costs about $300. How many Cambodian students can spend this kind of money, when their parents make about .50 0f a dollar per day.
they can try open office which could do almost the same thing as MS Office.
