Note from publisher: This is the announcement of an art event in Vietnam. The theme is focus on Indochina the whole. If you are an artist, you might want to send your work for the event. It’s a good chance to promote Cambodian art to the outside world.
riverorchid digital invites you to join us on a creative adventure through Indochina.
The riverorchid mojo is “loving, knowing, living Indochina”.
We want to know everything we can about the place we call home, so we are embarking on a project to discover and celebrate Indochina through digital media and creativity.
We want to find out what Indochina really means to a modern, digitally connected world by asking its people to share their views; creating a crowd-sourced integrated online and real world art event, and ongoing digital exhibition.
The heart of The Indochina Project will be the website www.theindochinaproject.com. Participants will be asked one simple question “What does Indochina mean to you?” and be encouraged to submit their answer in the most creative way possible.
This could be a photo, video, music recording, written story, digital artwork or anything else you feel best represents your impression of Indochina.
Over the course of the campaign The Indochina Project will see contributors from Indochina and across the globe participate in a unique creative process adding to the website to create a crowd sourced online artwork.
The culmination of the project will be a real world exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, showcasing all of the artworks submitted to the website. A wall of screens will be set up at the event where all of the works will be put on rotating display.
Each work will be displayed with a QR code allowing people to jump quickly to that page on the website from their smart phone where they will be able to comment on and share it.
One lucky participant will be selected to travel to Ho Chi Minh City and create their artwork live at the event; this could be a painter live painting, a musician or dancer performing or a poet reciting.
They will perform alongside an impressive international lineup of artists including: Rah Akaishi (Sri Lanka), Liar Ben (Vietnam), and Peepshow (New Zealand).
Whether you are from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Indochina or further afield we would love you to join us on this project.
Submissions open now.
