Aw, no not again!!! This particular song is just a Khmer version of the American band “Papa Roach”.
Can somebody tell me an orginal Khmer band besides, Ice Box, that does not translate popular American songs into Khmer? geez!!! Here in the States Cartoon can go to jail!

Do anybody want to start an exchange program to share music and movies between USA and Phnom Penh?
It is hard to support Khmer art because we don’t have access to the product. Here in America we just go around the internet and download the MP3 or go watch youtube.com. This is not helping or supporting the great effort the artist went through.
I propose anybody from both country share music and movies via postal mail. I’m willing to give you extra money to cover your time.

sure, i have thought about it quiet long time. i will arrange to have a place where you can buy online and the item will be sent by postal mail. this can be a part of support the local Phnom Penh artist. is it what you are looking for?

Exactly!!!! Khmerbird set it up. It doesn’t have to be an online store. It can be just an exchange for people around the world. You can set up Paypal.com to receive fund from the buyers and then you can ship the buyers the product. Music,Movies,Books etc etc.
Im thinking maybe you can setup ebay.com account and upload your product, but ebay.com get a percentage of your sales. I think it is better just to pay you directly and you get the entire profit.

I once sent somebody money through Mekong Bank via online transaction via PayPal.com. You may want to try http://www.acledabank.com.kh Try opening an account at Mekong Bank and then sign up for paypal.com. PayPal will try to send $1 to test if your bank can take the transaction.

That’s an interesting business.

American Express is a kind of credit card like Visa and Master but the bank service charge of Am. Exp. is higher than Master and Visa. For card processing, you have to open a current account to have a bank machine to process the pin card key in and there are two banks that serve this kind of service (Am. Exp.), CCB and Mekong bank.

I think that you should try to have a paypal account to get the money rather than to accept the cheque as it takes around 6 weeks to complete the cheque clearing.

Anyway, you need to be careful with the bank charge and currency base.

Good Luck,

thank for the information about American Express, i will love to have one.

If we feel uncomfortable using credit card or online transaction maybe the other alternative is to us Western Union or MoneyGram. This way we are guarantee the money will get to you. The bad news is that we have to pay a transaction fee. I really don’t care as long as I get what I have ordered and I’m excited about receiving the product. I get packages from Battambong all the time but it just letters. I want current music and movies from Cambodia. We here in the USA we are slow to get the news of the latest entertainment product. You guys there in phnom Pen are up to date on these items. I believe we should share and keep each other on the latest things and happenings.

Oh, you got it, nice. Do you know how much they charge you (send and receive)?

I have been always sent money by my uncle in US via MoneyGram and Western. It is very comfortable, we don’t have to have any account in the bank and fast process compare to wired transfer. I don’t know how much my uncle spent for the bank charge, but around $80 for wired transfer, so you must make sure that the bank charge is covered by your customer and receive in US dollar. If you don’t state them clearly, you will upset your profit.

You want to have an American Express card or to accept money by American Express card? For what I have mentioned above is the process when your customer pay you by Card.

thank khmerzero for the idea, i think it’s a good idea to set up alternative payment mode so that each client can choose and feel comfortable with their choice.

i will reserve the American Express for emergency need, coz we don’t have to put money in the account but we can pay at the end of the month, for sometime that i am broke.

i know how western works, i used to send money to my nephew in China. i know the fees, but as i mentioned in my previous comment, an alternative payment would be great.
