In December last year, Cambodia celebrated its 2nd edition of Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF) with success.
The festival could attract a lot of national and international audiences to join the screening of interesting films from various countries. Film Festival is becoming a popular event and it is very exciting that another film festival is coming next week.
It is not the 3rd edition of CIFF but it is the first International film festival will be held on the land of Siem Reap province of the kingdom of Cambodia ever. The festival is named Angkor Wat International Film Festival (AWIFF).
The event will start from 17 to 19 this month.
The Angkor Wat International Film Festival was founded by Dr. Thomas Vendetti, award-winning filmmaker and physiologist.
He has been working on documentary films for more than 20 years. He use his camera to capture films about different people, places, and cultures in order to educate his audiences to understand, appreciate and celebrate their lives, and their cultures.
The concept in making his films is to preserve environment, culture and promote happiness.
The Festival will showcase many featured films, documentaries, and short films, both in live action and animation.
The films which will be screened have subjects and themes related to the preservation of culture and environment since the mission of the festival is to raise public awareness of the preservation of traditional cultures and environment.
This exciting event will be held at Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort but it is free admission to all films.
Angkor Wat International film festival is going to be the first premier event for film in Siem Reap province. The festival will surely contribute to the promotion and development of tourism and eco-tourism in the province since the festival aims at raising awareness of the preservation of Culture including Khmer culture and the environment.
The most interesting film to see is Born Sweet. Born Sweet, a documentary directed by Cynthia Wade is giving an important message to the world and especially to Cambodian authorities by raising awareness of Arsenic in the Well Water in Cambodia.
